1st single Pinot Noir vineyard ever for Domaine Carneros, estate grown and only sold at the winery. Aromas filled with pomegranate, cherry, vanilla. Palate extends to the varying red fruits and earthy tea leaves. A little tight and needs time but has incredible potential.

The Mondovi Caneros got me started on these Pinots and I have been very happy with them thus far. This is a new wine being added to a wine list and I was able to drink the first bottle with the Wine Educator. With some help I was actually able to get the Earth and Animal from this one, but think it could really open up in good time.

Destined to be a classic, this 2006 Carneros pinot noir exhibits aromas of dried cherries, cedar and traces of dried tobacco. As the wine opens in the glass, underlying notes of vanilla bean and the fresh scent of a strawberry patch on a warm spring afternoon become evident. With a faint brick-red hue, this pinot noir tantalizes the palate with flavors of black plums, white pepper and blueberries. As a hint of bay laurel lingers on the finish, the bright acidity and well integrated tannins offer an alluring accompaniment to your dining experience. - Winery ** Only 2 in Stock **

Wine Tasting NotesThe Carneros Pinot Noir offers enticing aromas of black cherry, juniper berries, black currants, anise and cinnamon spice. Black cherry and red raspberry flavors dominate the palate with an underlying flinty mineral charm for which the Carneros region is known. The texture is framed by well-developed tannins and balanced acidity, and a lingering finish of dried cherries contribute to the wine's overall complexity.

Winemaker's Notes:

The Domaine Chandon Unoaked Pinot Noir Ros offers mouth-watering aromas of cherry blossom and Key lime, preparing the palate for a burst of strawberry, white cherry and kiwi flavors.Stock up for Summer Celebrations at the employee discount of just $6.00 per bottle!PHILOSOPHYWhile Domaine Chandon is best known as one of Californias top sparkling wine houses, we also produce limited quantities of still wines crafted from the traditional Champagne varietals. Domaine Chandons history sparks three decades of growing Carneros Pinot Noir. We draw on this experience for our signature Pinot Noir as well as Reserve wines from Carneros and other regions renowned for this variety, including Santa Rita Hills and Russian River Valley.VINTAGE NOTESRecord-breaking winter and early spring rainfall delayed the start of the 2006 growing season. However, a warm summer that included a July heat spell allowed the ripening process to regain momentum. Relatively cool fall weather extended the growing season, ensuring full flavor development and higher acid levels, proving to be ideal characteristics for a ros style wine.TASTING NOTESMouth-watering aromas of cherry blossom and Key lime prepare the palate for a burst of strawberry, white cherry and kiwi flavors followed by a refreshing, lingering finish.FOOD AND WINE PAIRINGThis wine is a brilliant match for picnic foods and light summer fare, such as shrimp, salads, and lightly-grilled seafood. A sip or two will cool the heat of barbecue, Asian, Indian and other spicy cuisine.Vintage: 2006Appellation: CarnerosAlcohol: 14.1%
