Dobbes Family Estate Pinot Noir Willamette Valley Griffin's Cuvée 2010

Editorial Review by Gregory Dal Piaz:

This smells stemmy and minty. High toned with chalk, crushed raspberry, rhubarb and floral aromas all topped with a touch of bacon and a little allspice. This is really fresh and has a fine combination of richness and precision in the mouth. The fruit is transparent with light red cherries and raspberries all wrapped in fine herb and spice notes with a hint of carob on the back end. The texture here is fantastic, so light and fresh, yet the fruit has a sweet edge of ripeness to it with zesty acidity and ripe, fine-grained tannins serving as support. This is not a complicated wine but it is delicious and a joy to drink with a moderately long finish that shows a hint of milk chocolate. 88pts

Suggested Recipe Pairing presented by
Layered Rice Pudding

RiceSelect's fragrant Jasmati® is blended with eggs, milk and fall's favorite spices, cinnamon and nutmeg, to create a delicious rice pudding, which is layered on top of fluffy cream cheese and abuttery pecan crust. Pairs well with a bold, tawny port with flavors of dried fruits, nuts, and spices.

A little bit oaky, with black pepper and raspberry aromas; as it sits the red fruit really gets powerful. The body is quite jammy, with s*-tons of umami fruit esters coming out on the finish.

The winemaker's 'true love'; the Cuvee Noir is a big and full-bodied wine. Not over the top, but skirting the line beautifully; this wine flirts with power, depth, richness and elegance simultaneously. This harmonious cuvee opens with expansive warm aromas of spices, graham and black fruits with a hint of floral notes. The mouth mirrors the aromas with full flavors of black cherries, blackberries and red currents wrapped within fine and sweet tannins. Perfect for immediate gratification, the Cuvee Noir also exhibits excellent aging potential to 2012.
