Dne de la Janasse Cuvée Tradition Châteauneuf du Pape 2006
This 100% Grenache vintage, located on the cold and late soil named Chapoin has been able to reach an optimum maturity thanks to ideal september climate conditions. The elevage showed flavors of red fruits and liquorice while keeping the soil-caracteristic smoothness et melted tannins. An elegant and powerful Grenache.
A dark, almost black color in the glass. The nose is intense showing dark blackberry fruit with beef broth, plum sauce, savory herbs, mint. The palate is rich, full and intense with pumpkin pie spice, blackberries, raisin, tar and black licorice. The finish is beautifully long and full of ripe cherry fruit. This was my wine of the night.

The 2004 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee Chaupin (an old vine Grenache offering) is concentrated and tightly knit displaying good acidity, firm tannin, rich, full-bodied power, and stunning concentration as well as length. Unlike such vintages as 2003, 2001, 2000, and 1998, the 2004 requires 3-5 years of bottle age; it should keep for 15+. Sabon said its alcohol was essentially equivalent to the 2003 at 15.4%.

Dark red. Explosively aromatic and sweet on the nose, dominated by potent red berries and candied rose. Lush and sweet in the mouth, the red berry notes picking up weight and becoming positively liqueur-like. I was reminded of a red Burgundy from the Gros family. Finishes supple and round, with no bite or rough edges.
Dark and concentrated, with solid grip for the vintage helping to push the black fig, currant, mocha, bittersweet cocoa and Turkish coffee notes through the long, juicy finish. Drink now through 2028. 100 cases imported. -JM Wine Spectator. A Proprietary Blend wine from Rhone in France. 2006 Domaine de la Janasse Chateauneuf du Pape 750ml
The dense purple-colored 2006 Chateauneuf du Pape, 80% foudre-aged Grenache and 20% Syrah and Mourvedre aged in small barrels, offers a beautiful bouquet of blackberries, roasted meats, sweet herbs, and new saddle leather. Full-bodied and super-concentrated with no hard edges, it should drink beautifully for 12andndash;15 years.
