This vintage marks the debut of De Morgenzon’s DMZ label, where the objective is to produce classic, elegant, well-balanced wines which over-deliver in terms of quality and value. The voluptuous Shiraz bottling – crafted completely from estate fruit – is brimming with rich, ripe berry and plum flavors coupled with seductive floral notes. Distinctive hints of white pepper, exotic spice and vanilla follow through on the finish.

Almost smells like it’s got a bit of Pinotage in there with it’s smoky, rubber tones but that may simply be some reductive funk as it begins blows off with air. Revealing tons of cracked pepper with some subtle soil and herbal tones adding detail to the tight, floral black fruits. A bit of a small nose but well balanced and complete. Really tight on entry with nice tannins and balanced acid but this is just a baby. There are nice black raspberry notes and that floral, forest floor from the nose is quite pronounced in the mouth but this feels and tastes closed. Clean and crisp on the finish. Bright and a little spicy on the nose, flavors are darker, smooth with a good fresh acidity, a nice medium-thick mouthfeel and spice on the finish.

Creamy nose with hints of pyrite. Very mineral in the mouth, with a cool iron and iodine flavor. Intense fruits, bordering on a licorice flavor. Very powerful and intense, with a thick concentrated mouthfeel.

raspberries and blackberries on the nose, round on the palate, easily drinkable, the tannins are not overpowering, the fruit is full and jam-like and delicious. easily drinkable with friends.
