Distefano Syrah Columbia Valley 2005

Winemaker's Notes:

100% Syrah
433 cases produced
We are so excited of offer this new 100% varietal Syrah. Very smooth and velvety with lots of black cherries, strawberry jam, and blueberry. Delicate overtones of violet mingle with vanilla and hints of old leather that add beautiful layers to this pleasant aromatic bouquet. The palate is really juicy with refined tannin, and spice. Finishes smooth, and lingers for a long time on the finish.

Had this wine at dinner with a friend, his evaluation was "Better than my father-in-law's wine and less bitter than my wife". My review was a little more concise. :-) Cherry, smoke and a bit of spice. Medium finish with strong tannins. Could definitely use a bit of time.

bright, juicy and appealing for its fresh plum, berry and mocha flavors; beautifully knit and lingering enticingly on a polished finish. A Syrah with real refinement. Drink now through 2012
