Distefano Merlot Blend Columbia Valley Domenica 2004

Winemaker's Notes:

We are very proud to release our second vintage of Domenica. Dried black cherries, baked berries, figs, and ground coffee are layered with vanilla bean, caramel, and brown butter. A trace of toasted almonds adds a nice complexity to the oak flavors integrated on the palate. Adding more complexity to the fruit are traces of anise, peppercorn, and earth. Very juicy yet holding firm tannins, Domenica embodies everything we know about her namesake.

This classic bordeaux styled blend is a fantastic wine for any-time. Black cherries, and black licorice duke it out in style, wafting up from the glass with a hint of eucalyptus as well. On the palate are dark fruits with a touch of cinnamon bark, and and almost vegetal finish. This would be great for drinking alone or pairing with a hearty pasta sauce!
