Dingac Plavac Mali Ivo Skaramuca Vineyard 2004
External Review by Astor Wines & Spirits:
(PO) From the area of Dingac, on Croatia's Peljesac peninsula, comes this tasty red wine made from the Plavac Mali grape variety. This is a rich version, full of violet and blackberry fruit with a touch of musk on the finish. Makes a perfect match for grilled steaks.

The red-only wines are produced from Plavac Mali (which translates to “little blue”), genetically the same grape as American Zinfandel, and can only be labeled as Dingač if grown in that specific vineyard area. The vineyard is on a steep hillside of the peninsula, with a dramatic drop off overlooking the Adriatic Sea. The mascot for the winery is the donkey, since for a long time it was impossible for vehicles to drive along the steep hillside. The wines are characterized by lush, dark fruit, rose aromatics and a warm, spicy finish.
