Dierberg introduced its first Chardonnay in 2004 from the estate. More vines coming online have increased production five-fold to an amount where it is far easier to present it as a benchmark wine. The winery considers 2005 a "breakout" vintage and I concur because the resulting wine has the rich, nearly bottomless complexity and verve that I find in other stunning, "must-have" Chardonnay, such as Maldonado and Peay.
