Diamond Creek Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Red Rock Terrace 2005
Following the success of our Merlot, we introduced our Cabernet Sauvignon in 2004. Like a diamond, this multi-faceted wine has quickly become a crowd favorite. Aromas of black cherry, blackberries, liqueur and hints of tobacco and smoke precede a rich, silky palate of cherry, chocolate and black fruits with a touch of toasty oak on the finish.
Over the past decade Red Rock has gained an enviable reputation for producing superb ultra premium wines. They are handcrafted on the estate from vines that creep up the side of a dormant volcano west of Geelong. The mineral-rich soil, low rainfall and cool climate result in a unique terroir which, when coupled with sensitive winemaking, yields distinctly individual wines with power and finesse.
killer qpr. smooth as silk. tastes like washington cabs that are double the price. this is a steal.
It was a nice smooth bottle, nice after taste, good for a night of drinking with friends. Affordable and doable on a daily basis.
Everyone needs a few bottles of wine like this in their cellar. It is easy drinking and cheap. I had this for $10/glass (price of the bottle) in an upscale Brazilian steakhouse. When I ordered a CS, I expected something full-bodied to eat with my meat. It was a blessing in disguise that this CS turned out to be a fun, fruit-forward wine that paired well with the meat and a vast array of other items I had, in typical churrascaria fashion. Although there was hardly any bouquet, the sudden burst of flavors was a pleasant surprise. It had flavors of blackberries, candy, chocolate, little hint of oak. Finish was pretty short, but it suited me fine for tonight since I soon had another piece of meat in my mouth right after a sip of wine. It would be a great wine if you are getting together with a mixed crowd. I can see some people not liking it for its sweet characteristics, but I think its great, given the right food and occassion. It spells 'fun' to me. I may be overrating this wine as I had it with a good meal and in a nice restaurant. Would be interested to taste this at home.
Was delightfully surprised by this wine! Loved it's complex flavors.
A great value wine from Washington State. Smooth and fruity.
