Diamond Creek Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley Red Rock Terrace 2005
...indeed, pretty - [it] maintains its girlish form despite relatively rapid aging... very much in the front of the mouth... appear[s] to flatter the palate's vanity while blithely begging deepr issues... known for being very extracted, concentrated wine...Add winemaker's notes
Over the past decade Red Rock has gained an enviable reputation for producing superb ultra premium wines. They are handcrafted on the estate from vines that creep up the side of a dormant volcano west of Geelong. The mineral-rich soil, low rainfall and cool climate result in a unique terroir which, when coupled with sensitive winemaking, yields distinctly individual wines with power and finesse.
RiceSelect's fragrant Jasmati® is blended with eggs, milk and fall's favorite spices, cinnamon and nutmeg, to create a delicious rice pudding, which is layered on top of fluffy cream cheese and abuttery pecan crust. Pairs well with a bold, tawny port with flavors of dried fruits, nuts, and spices.

The 2000 Cabernet Sauvignon Red Rock Terrace, usually the most accessible of the Diamond Creek Cabernets, possesses earthiness, a distinct mintiness, and astringent tannin in the finish. The bouquet reveals classic notes of cassis intermixed with tobacco leaf, cedar, and licorice. The Cabernet is medium-bodied, but excessively tannic.
Wonderful depth, richness and purity of flavor to this young Red Rock, with juicy black cherry, currant, wild berry, plum, cedar, mineral and light oak nuances. Tight and concentrated, it's a superb wine, rich and long on the finish. Best from 2004 through 2018.
This well-made '88 boasts smoke, rain forest and pomegranate aromas. These Diamond Creek wines need to be tasted to be believed! Brick in color and slightly smoky with raspberry and wildberry flavors that carry through.
Cedar and cigar box nuances with expansive, young fruit. Pretty hard to believe it was bottled in '89. These wines are built for age. Tasting is believing - low in acidity with terraced structure reminiscent of Merlot in smoothness and suppleness.
Smooth, rich and complex, with a concentrated core of earthy currant, black cherry, herb and toasty oak. Plush textured at first but then the tannins flex their muscles, suggesting a need for cellaring. Long finish. Best from 2007 through 2019.
An excellent '88, with ripe cherry and currant, pretty spice shadings, firm but ripe tannins and, most importantly, a long and lingering finish.
