Winemaker's Notes:

"The 2004 Meritage is a blend of 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot, and 20% Cabernet Franc. Notes of black berries, black cherries, raspberry and cassis mingle with dense chocolate, cedar and vanilla. Ahint of toasted almonds and dried prunes are layered with traces ofcracked pepper and spice. Berries and dried fruits linger on a fullpalate with ripe chewy tannins and a long creamy finish. Enjoy nowthrough 2011."Hillary Sjolund, Winemaker"Thishas fine tannins around a gentle core of plum and currant fruit, finishing with touches of smoke and pepper. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlotand Cabernet Franc. Best from 2008 through 2012. 1,200 cases made." Score: 88The Wine Spectator, December 31st, 2007"This is solidly made, with rough, chewytannins and hard fruit flavors that show concentrated plum and cassis.Everything is in good proportion, although the acids are a bit chalkyand the high alcohol (just under 15%) takes it away from classicBordeaux flavors. It would be nice to see the ripeness ramped down anotch, because the mix of grapes is right and theres good fruit here.It just has been ripened to the point where the alcohol takes over."86 points P.G.
