Editorial Reviews
Still very youthful, the aromatics here still recall the dosage liquor well balanced by rich yeasty, biscuity tones. The nose is wonderfully subtle and perfumed with notes of dry soil, pressed flowers, fruitcake, spice and rich oxidative tones. The palate shows excellent integration with phenomenal intensity of fruit and well-measured perfume in the mouth. This remains very fine and focused on the backend with excellent length though it is the most marked by the dosage of any of these wines. 93pts

Reviews for 1996 Vintage
More cognac on the nose, but much more acidity than the 99 rose. Its lean and abrupt, almost, but has more subtlety as there's less sugar to round it out.
The color has an orange tint to it, showing its age. There's a good berry aroma to back the toast. Acidic at first, the attack is almost overpowered by grapefruit, but it does mellow out a bit on the midpalate and finish.
Asuntokauppojen kunniaksi "vähän" parempaa samppanjaa Alkon tilausvalikoimasta. Erinomainen, tulee kesä mieleen. Pienet kuplat ja tuhti maku. Huippurosé ei kuitenkaan pätki perinteistä huippusamppanjaa.
This vintage has an antique rose color with purple hues and fine, rapid and persistent bubbles. There are sweet red berries on the nose, which lead to notes of rhubarb and lychee. On the palate, it is flavorful and elegant, showing strawberries and other red berries. A touch of mint can be detected on the finish. The color and style are created by the dosage of eight percent Ay red wine. The grapes for the wine come from Meurtet, a hillside vineyard in Ay with perfect sun exposure. Food Pairing: This particular Champagne is recommended with food. It pairs well with salmon and mushroom sauce, beef carpaccio, duck and blueberry sauce, lamb cutlets, or a variety of creamy cheeses.
