Disappointing wine from a great vintage and a usually reliable producer.
Best taste after half hour
A really wonderful wine with superb price/quality. Improves with some decanting (I had 3 hours). A promising nose and the rich flavours stay in your mouth for a good 30 seconds. A "must-buy" if one wants to have really good wine with reasonable prices.

A breathtakingly beautiful Sociando-Mallet with a dense ruby/purple color and a bouquet of ink, mineral, graphite, vanilla, and creme de cassis, the 2000 boasts superb concentration, great definition and intensity, ripe tannin, and a long finish of m... Robert Parkers Wine Advocate. A Bordeaux Blend wine from Bordeaux in France. 2000 Sociando-Mallet 750ml
This is a beautiful wine and certainly one of the great sleepers of the vintage. I originally predicted that this wine would be at full maturity between 2007 and 2028, but I would push that back by a good 4-5 years. Still inky/purple, with notes of acacia flowers intermixed with wet rocks, black currants, and blueberries, the wine is full-bodied, displays no real evidence of any oak, and offers up terrific concentration, texture, and length. For those who bought this beauty at $30-35 when it was available, this was a terrific buy, and it should continue to evolve for 20+ years.
