Demi-Sec Champagne Original Presentation Box NV

Winemaker's Notes:

Demi-Sec is blended largely from Pinot Noir with Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier as well as reserve wines. The liqueur d'expdition (carefully prepared and dosed with 45 g per litre by our oenologists) gives it a sweeter yet still very fresh harmony. Demi-Sec is at its best when served with desserts. You could even serve it in a carafe not to decant it but to admire the colour and the delicate bubbles of this elegant wine.

Founded in 1772, Veuve Clicquot is among the most prestigious Champagne Houses. Its extensive holdings, many originally purchased by Madame Clicquot, stretch throughout the top-rated areas of the Champagne region and are exceptional in size and quality. As in madame Clicquot's day, bottles age in the House's vast, vaulted cellars in Reims, portions of which were constructed some 2,000 years ago by the Romans. The remarkable Madame Clicquot (1777-1866) is considered one of the first business-women of the modern era. Widowed in 1805 at the age of 27, Madame Veuve Clicquot (born Ponsardin) defied every convention of the day to take the helm of her late husband's small Champagne House. She personally supervised cellar activities and introduced innovative production techniques still used today. Champagne Veuve Clicquot is known internationally for its classically styled and full-bodied Champagne. Read less

Very nice - make no bones about its sweetness, its clearly a demi-sec, which although it translates as "semi-sweet", actually means "fairly-sweet". The wine is very soft, well rounded and smooth with flavors of passion fruits and some nice currant notes.

Beautiful creamy golden color with a biscuit, toasty nose with a touch of honey. Hazelenut, apricots, bright honey. Very enjoyable on its own. And with dessert we ordered bartlett pear cake w. pumpkin spice icecream and apple tart w. Granny smith apple icecream. Delish!

Sweet champagne, ideal for dessert. Perfect balance between fruit and sweetness. If you have never tasted demi-sec champagne, you have to.

Creamy, with a touch of sweetness. Veuve Clicquot's Demi-Sec (the classic accompaniment to dessert) is equally pleasing as an apTritif. This stylish blend is evocative of the wine Madame Clicquot herself produced in the early 19th century.

Gelb mit goldenen Reflexen, intensive Nase mit einer breitgefächerten Skala von reifen Früchten, Röstnoten und Brioche, angenehm weich und rund, mit angenehmer Frische.

Firm, with a fine mousse, this shows bright apple, lemon and floral flavors. Graceful, ending with a chalky sensation around the gums. Good length. Drink now through 2008.

Demi-Sec, a slightly sweet style of Champagne, is at its best when served with desserts. Veuve Clicquot Demi-Sec, marked by fresh peach, nectarine and orange blossom, pairs beautifully with Godiva's assorted deep dark chocolates, smooth

This strikes a nice balance between fruit and sweetness, retaining plenty of fresh fruity acid structure.

Like a sweeter version of a good blanc de blancs, with graphite, honey and lemon notes that mix with the richness and lively acidity. Moderate length. Drink now. -BS
