The OFS Pinot Noir typifies a quintessential Pinot Noir from the Russian River Valley. Generous aromas of blackberry and raspberry lift out of the glass. The aromas unfold to fresh berries mingling with rose petals towards the front of the palate, followed by undertones of cola, leather, and black tea in the mid to back palate. Reviews for 2008 Vintage
You need to give it time. At first it was just very bland and seems like nothing special. But several days later, I gradually felt the story behind the extremely light flavor. There is something in it that worths waiting for.
The after taste is not only burned and smoky but has an essence of asphalt which we disliked. We have enjoyed other De Loach wines but not this one
The nose is slightly smoky and oaky with a very well balanced depth to it. Crisp, light, but with a certain grace to it. What you would expect from pinot noir grapes which come from that cool region of Sonoma County.
Burnt garnet in the glass; dusty fruit & wet wool, wet soil on the nose. In the mouth, you get cola notes, and bright, unwashed strawberries, freshly picked.
medium pale garnet with watery rim. light in body and tannins (could almost taste like white wine if not for the aromatics), great mouthpuckering cranberry tartness. dusty earth, dried cherries, perhaps a bit of vanilla? medium intensity and length of finish. always one of the better QPR American Pinots.
Spicy and brambly aromas with some cinnamon and cherries. An earthy pinot with a touch of cherry cobbler, a hint of sweetness and medicine and just a touch of cream and cocoa on the finish.
Fruity apple, blueberry, and brandy nose with balanced oak and vanilla, and a bit of ash. The mouth is strongly acidic in a way that gives it minerality, it almost tastes salty. The finish is buttery.
Light earthy rustic cola nose. Darker than many pinots I've had. Raspberry dominates in the mouth with mellow acidity and a slight rubberiness toward the back end. Sweet and chalky finish with the faintest bit of tea leaves. A nice pinot.

The cool, foggy Russian River Valley climate allows for slow ripening, enabling grapes to develop full flavor maturation over an extended time. The fruit for our 2007 blend was hand-harvested from select vineyards around the valley and crafted using traditional Burgundian techniques: fermentation in small, wooden, open-top vats; hand punch-downs; basket-pressing; and French oak barrel aging.
