Green apples and caramel on the nose. In the mouth this wine offer a nice minerality. It is crisp yet hints at caramel. Nice oakiness, which is present on the finish, against firm and fresh acidity.
Rich oaky nose, with hints of kiwi and lime. Medium bodied, with lots of vanilla and coconut, but a nice mineral core and a crisp finish.
Rich, oaky nose with lime and gooseberry notes. Warm vanilla flavors, with peach on the finish. Creamy red apple flavors dominate.
Easily my favorite of the DeLoach Chardonnay offerings in a recent tasting - more flavorful, nuanced, and interesting than the much more expensive ($45 or more) single-vineyard bottlings. The OFS is beautifully balanced and full of peach and mango fruit along with a good dose of clove/cinnamon spice and note of fresh flowers. Elegant feel, everything in harmony, nothing overdone. The price keeps edging up about 10% per year, though, so this one's getting more and more painful to pay for.
This full-bodied Chardonnay draws its structure and spice from grapes hailing from vineyards around the Russian River Valley. The clone 4 grapes from the Nonella vineyard and the clone 15 grapes from the Norris vineyard in the warmer Chalk Hill sub-appellation bring both richness and balance. To the southwest, the Hawk Hill vineyard benefits from a long cool growing season and late harvest, lending delicate acid balance, an opulent range of flavors and impressive complexity. The cooler Sonoma Coast microclimate with varied ripening conditions influences aromatics such as ripe apricots, figs and traces of white chocolate in this wine. Barrel fermentation and selective lees stirring contribute rich flavors of dried peaches, almonds and nougat with luscious fruit and a rounder texture. Try our rich Chardonnay as an elegant aperitif paired with hors d'oeuvres or with pork tenderloin alongside a sesame soba noodle salad.
