Not a lot going on here, fairly simple, kind of flat without the usual tanginess or bite of sangiovese or montepulciano.

This is a fine full bodied Montepulciano d'Abruzzo as one can expect from this region in Italy. Deep concentrated dark fruit, well balanced acidity, nice mild tannins that you really can taste. For the price, this is great

This has been my go-to everday wine for a long time. A very inexpensive wine that is a good bit better than the better box wines ( Big House Red, etc)

Nice wine for its price. I got a bottle for five dollars. It had a slightly alcoholic taste, but it wasn't overpowering. Great weeknight wine. Went well with pizza.

I bought this at a local liquor store in Canada. I was looking around for a cheap wine for cooking. Tried some and will NOT disgrace this wine by using it for that purpose. One of the best red wines i have tasted ina lng time -better than most high priced wines.

Bright ruby red in color with delicious aromas of black cherries, strawberries, and herbs, Stella Montepulciano dAbruzzo is dry and mellow with concentrated structure. It is best enjoyed young, in order to fully appreciate its fruity varietal character. Montepulciano dAbruzzo undergoes minimal aging at the winery. Upon release, it is ready to be enjoyed with typical Italian dishes, red meats, pizza, and cheese.

Montepulciano d'Abruzzo 2007 - Wall Street Journal/ We really enjoy this wine, which was a favorite in a tasting of jug reds several years ago and also in a broad, blind tasting of Montepulciano d’Abruzzo (which is a great bet in general, by the way). It has a dark color that looks rich and serious, with some minerals on the nose. The taste is blackberries and blueberries, with good tannins and some body... Summer is an uncomplicated time and we like uncomplicated wines that taste like fresh fruit—and this one does. But its extra depth means it’s perfect with a rare burger off the grill or a big, thick steak.

Montepulciano D'Abruzzo 2007 - 86 Points, Wine Review Online/ You read the price correctly - a single digit small enough to allow a magnum (1.5L) to still be priced under $10. Most wines at this price are hard to recommend. Not this one. Abruzzo, the region recently devastated by earthquakes, is dominated by wine cooperatives making wines of highly variable quality, so you need to pick and choose wisely. You can safely choose this one. Simple, juicy fruit flavors, a touch of gamey elements are balanced by just the right amount of acidity. With surprising intensity and mild tannins, it's an excellent everyday wine.

Montepulciano D'Abruzzo 2008 - Find Your Go-To Wine, Food Network Magazine/ You lean toward strong flavors that are clean and simple, not overwhelming, so try this dry berry-scented wine. It’s great with red sauce.

The Citra family of stylishly-created Italian wines, widely admired for its enduring high quality and exceptional value, represents a reliable source of versatile, food-friendly varietal wines. As the single most important producer in Italy's picturesque coastal Abruzzi region and a leading Italian brand across America, Citra has built a reputation as a trusted producer of well-made, authentic Italian wines. The winemaking firm of Citra came into being in 1973 when 7,000 small growers scattered throughout the Abruzzi opted to band together to form a single wine cooperative. What they all shared in common was a commitment to win the national and international recognition they felt the wines of their region deserved. The fortitude, resourcefulness and conviction of the quality-minded Abruzzi growers who form Citra continue to make the Abruzzi winery a model of its kind. Production Area Grapes are harvested from hillside vineyards in the province of Chieti, in central Italy’s coastal Abruzzi region. Grape Varieties 100% Montepulciano Vinification The must, obtained through a gentle pressing of the grapes, undergoes a traditional vinification process. The wine is then decanted into stainless steel prior to bottling and release. Color Lush ruby with hints of purple. Bouquet Pleasant, lingering fruit aromas. Taste Dry, well-balanced and delightfully tannic, with concentrated berry flavors. Alcohol 13% Serving Suggestions A perfect accompaniment to grilled meats, rich pasta dishes and vegetarian entrees. Enjoy at room temperature.
