Della Scala Montepulciano d'Abruzzo 2013
Citra Vini is a winery located in the Chieti district of Abruzzo, Italy. It comprises 10 grower cooperatives within Abruzzo, providing top quality grapes from their respective terroirs. The wines are produced in a modern facility with adherence to the strict traditions of the region. They produce a wine range of wines of every style from white, red, rosé, sparkling and sweet.
Not a lot going on here, fairly simple, kind of flat without the usual tanginess or bite of sangiovese or montepulciano.
This is a fine full bodied Montepulciano d'Abruzzo as one can expect from this region in Italy. Deep concentrated dark fruit, well balanced acidity, nice mild tannins that you really can taste. For the price, this is great
Very good, dry, light red bursting with red fruit
This has been my go-to everday wine for a long time. A very inexpensive wine that is a good bit better than the better box wines ( Big House Red, etc)
Three and a half glasses
Nice wine for its price. I got a bottle for five dollars. It had a slightly alcoholic taste, but it wasn't overpowering. Great weeknight wine. Went well with pizza.
I bought this at a local liquor store in Canada. I was looking around for a cheap wine for cooking. Tried some and will NOT disgrace this wine by using it for that purpose. One of the best red wines i have tasted ina lng time -better than most high priced wines.

Cherry flavors and spice with a middle palate of fresh strawberries and a finish that is smooth and agreeable. Nice match with pasta dishes burgers eggplant parmesan veal piccata Chicken Française and semi-hard cheeses.
This dry red wine is very smooth with mild tannins and a lingering finish of concentrated berries. Excellent with pasta.
Montepulciano D'Abruzzo 2007 - 86 Points, Wine Review Online/ You read the price correctly - a single digit small enough to allow a magnum (1.5L) to still be priced under $10. Most wines at this price are hard to recommend. Not this one. Abruzzo, the region recently devastated by earthquakes, is dominated by wine cooperatives making wines of highly variable quality, so you need to pick and choose wisely. You can safely choose this one. Simple, juicy fruit flavors, a touch of gamey elements are balanced by just the right amount of acidity. With surprising intensity and mild tannins, it's an excellent everyday wine.
