Delille Cellars D2 Estate Red Columbia Valley 2011

External Review by WineExpress.com:

Recommended in the Wall Street Journal DeLille Cellars is a boutique artisan winery located in Woodinville, Washington. The winery was founded in 1992 by Charles and Greg Lill, Jay Soloff and celebrated winemaker Chris Upchurch. The mission at DeLille Cellars has always been to create a new Bordeaux blend using Washington State vineyards. From the beginning, the winery has looked towards the prestigious Red Mountain AVA as the foundation of its wines, using grapes from its own vineyards in combination with fruit from other top sites in the Yakima Valley. This D2 Red is a blend of 56% Merlot, 35% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot. The Wine Advocate scored it 93 points saying "A smoking effort, the 2011 D2...offers gorgeous black cherry, black currants, tobacco leaf and hints of chocolate to go with a full-bodied, rich, textured and seamless profile on the palate. Showing both richness and elegance, with building fine tannin, it’s a rock-star Bordeaux blend that will have 10 to 15 years of longevity."

Simply stated, our goal is to make the very best handcrafted, old-world style red and white wine made in the State of Washington. We are a family and independently owned winery with an uncompromising philosophy about the quality of what will be in your bottle of wine. DeLILLE CELLARS currently produces five Bordeaux-styled wines: Grand Ciel, Chaleur Estate Red, D2, Harrison Hill, and Chaleur Estate Blanc. Also produced are the Doyenne wines, which include a classic northern Rhône-style Syrah - awarded as one of the great 15 Syrahs of the world; a Roussanne; Métier a Southern Rhône-styled red wine; Métier Blanc, a Provençe-style white, Aix, a Provençe-style red, and our latest addition, a Provençe/Bandol-style Rosé.
