Quite oaky, which overwhelms the wine. Light tannins and moderate acidity make for a good balance; some prune fruit but any more complexity or personality is hidden by the oak on nose and palate. Probably would be good with grilled or Tuscan food, but I prefer Chianti.

deep, complex, herbacious, and great with food. I paired it with lamb that i marinated with balsamic, rosemary, olive oil, and then grilled. Everyone i share it with seems to really like it. It's also a great bargain. Good quality Sangiovese.

Winemaker's Notes:

Dei is an uncontested leader in Montepulciano. Their wines are widely celebrated for their elegance, balance, and classic lines. A traditional blend of 80% Prugnolo gentile, the Sangiovese clone native to Montepulciano, and 15% Canaiolo nero and 5% Mammolo, this Vino Nobile is aged in large oak casks for 24 months and cellared in the bottle for 6 months before release. A beautiful seductive wine, its crystalline ruby hue precedes a mouthful of red currants and cherry delivered in a velvety wrapping of crisp violets and smooth tannins.
