Dehlinger Pinot Noir Russian River Valley Goldridge 2006

External Review by Prestige Wine & Spirits:

High-pitched aromas of strawberry and raspberry are complemented by notes of Asian spices and fresh rose. Silky in texture and broad on the palate, offering juicy red fruit preserve flavors and a deeper note of bitter cherry. The finish repeats the floral note and lingers with excellent tenacity. This wine's balance and clarity are impressive.

We are currently initiating a vineyard redevelopment on several of our vineyard blocks. In-house Vineyard Manager Marty Hedlund has been over-seeing the 45 acres of vines since 1988. Hedlund works with the vineyard crew to ensure that each area of the vineyard is appropriatedly pruned, managed, and thinned to bring out the potential of each peice of soil. The entire vineyard has been retrained to a "lyre"-shaped split-canopy, vertical shoot-positioned trellis system which allows for superior light penetration to the fruiting zone and systematic hand care. A lighter, more delicate style, with fragrant rose petal, black cherry, wild berry, berry jam and spice notes. Medium- to full-bodied, this ends the way it started, delicate and fragrant. Drink now through 2018.

Bright medium red. Alluring perfume of strawberry, raspberry, potpourri and incense, along with a bright mineral overtone. Precise red berry flavors are deepened by smoky minerals and notes of candied rose and cinnamon, with fine-grained tannins adding support. Very sexy pinot, with excellent finishing clarity, spiciness and lingering sweetness.

There are 1,600 cases of the 2006 Pinot Noir Goldridge Vineyard, which exhibits sweet black cherry and allspice notes intermixed with hints of forest floor and flowers, silky tannin, medium to full body, a nicely layered mouthfeel, and a rare delicacy and elegance. This well-balanced Pinot can be enjoyed over the next decade.
