Dehlinger Cabernet Sauvignon-Merlot Rubian River Valley 1995

Winemaker's Notes:

91 points Robert Parker: Dehlinger produces 300-500 cases of their Cabernet/Merlot Blend. As I have frequently written, this is not a wine to be ignored, its humble name notwithstanding. The opaque purple-colored 1995 Cabernet/Merlot Blend (70% Cabernet Sauvignon / 30% Merlot) displays a sweet, rich nose of melted road tar, black currants, earth, minerals, and toast. Rich, with great fruit and ripeness, this full-bodied wine will be at its best after 2-4 years of cellaring; it will keep for 15+ years. (Dec 1997)

We are currently initiating a vineyard redevelopment on several of our vineyard blocks. In-house Vineyard Manager Marty Hedlund has been over-seeing the 45 acres of vines since 1988. Hedlund works with the vineyard crew to ensure that each area of the vineyard is appropriatedly pruned, managed, and thinned to bring out the potential of each peice of soil. The entire vineyard has been retrained to a "lyre"-shaped split-canopy, vertical shoot-positioned trellis system which allows for superior light penetration to the fruiting zone and systematic hand care.
