Great QPR on this Spanish red. Deep, bright garnet in color. Aromas of blackberry and marshmallow give an initial, sweet impression. Palate is much leaner than the aromas suggest, with black fruits, a touch of tar in the mid-palate, and a slightly stemmy finish. What a glorious set of contradictions. Satiny in the mouth. Drying finish. Loved it.

Insanely good value white--should be a contender for house white, given its zesty flavors and a heavier mouthfeel than Sauvignon Blanc. Lime zest and litchi-fruit aromas, which are subtle until it warms up in the glass. Waxy flavors of Meyer lemon, golden delicious apple, candied lemon peel, and lime. Delicious, versatile white. Verdejo, Viura, and Sauvignon Blanc.

Straw. Nice fresh lemon notes with some passion fruit. Very crisp, dry white wine with good acidity. Some melon, apple and lemon but a huge mineral flavor.

Paired well with chicken in mustard and caper sauce. Tasted great on it's own. Crisp, clean, slightly tart. Like Granny Smith apples, but not as sour. Serve very chilled.

g DEHESA GAGO ANDA 2009 TORO Nose: At first confectionary aromas filled the air, not a good start to a $30.00 bottle. Confectionary Continuing on to the plate, Double decant and pray it gets better a lot better. ½ an hour has passed and this wine has improved out of sight. Nose: Round dusty ripe fruit now showing, all most herbal with new oak and spice on the nose. 3 hours into this wine, confectionary still present, mellow musk on the nose, however the next sniff is surprisingly different, Dry herbs and plumb jam on the nose, Followed by a dry watery acid on the finish that I like a lot, this wine is so easy to drink, just add crusty bread, simple cold cuts, roast pumpkin green olives and enjoy.

Lost in the woods for a week this past summer with nothing but a Swiss Army knife and a bottle of the Dehesa Gago, I actually gained five pounds before I was found. Ripe and deeply textured to almost port-like proportions, this Spanish bruiser is truly a wine that drinks like a meal.

Looking to get buried by an avalanche of concentrated, jammy fruit? This will do that. Itrsquo;s a willing and ready example of young Toro, unrestrained, hot and heavy. The sweet berry fruit is a little sassy with alcohol, but thatrsquo;s what you expect from this rugged region. Tastes good and potent, but definitely on the candied side.

The deep ruby-colored 2001 Dehesa Gago (600 cases for the USA) exhibits abundant quantities of attractive black plum and cherry fruit. Typical of the low-yielding 2001 vintage, it displays more muscle and structure than previous renditions. It will benefit from 3ndash;4 more months of bottle age, and should drink well for 2ndash;3 years.
