Decoy By Duckhorn Cabernet Sauvignon Sonoma County 2014

Winemaker's Notes:

90 points Wine Enthusiast: Made for broad release, this wine impresses for its rounded, approachable layers of dried herb and anise, the tannin and oak lightly applied. Blended with 10% Merlot, it finds a jolt of richness on the finish, a showcase for notions of chocolate, cherry and blackberry. Alcohol 13.9%. (Feb 2017)

Duckhorn fans know a good thing when they see it. The Decoy line offers varietal wines like this lush Cabernet Sauvignon that the Duckhorn team creates with the same care and attention as their Napa Estate wines but at a price that no one can turn down. Accessing prime grapes from vineyards in Sonoma County, they've created this value Cab that's pure Duckhorn and drinking beautifully right now. 2014 turned out to be a very fine vintage in Sonoma and offered beautifully ripe fruit. This is a blend of 90% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Merlot, aged in 40% new French oak for 10 months. All for Under $25. It shows bold flavors of black cherry, raspberry, black currant; subtle notes of dark chocolate, licorice and spice. Tannins are well rounded and the finish is long and engaging. Duckhorn does it again!
