90% Merlot, 9% Cabernet Sauvignon, 1% Cabernet Franc. With firm tannins and exceptional length, this is a lovely and age-worthy wine that shows how much Merlot can excel in a cooler growing season. Co-founded by Dan and Margaret Duckhorn in 1976, Duckhorn Vineyards has spent a quarter century establishing itself as one of North America's premier producers of Bordeaux varietal wines. From its modest inaugural vintage of 800 cases of Cabernet Sauvignon and 800 cases of Merlot in 1978, to its addition of Sauvignon Blanc in 1982, Duckhorn Vineyards has crafted a tradition of quality and excellence that continues today.
RiceSelect's creamy Arborio gets blended with sweet potato, coconut milk and vanilla to create this decadent cheesecake. Pairs well with Saunternes; a white dessert wine that has hints of coconut from aging in oak barrels.

At first oaky on the nose but air quickly brings out attractive blackcurrant and herb notes that help to lend the aromatics some balance here. Nice freshness and weight on entry carries through across the palate with some woody tannins and a touch of caramel and fudge topping the modest red berry fruit here. The finish is relatively bright and fresh, if short. Nothing out of place, but at the same time this is an awfully safe wine. 85pts
Milk chocolate and oak greet the nose followed by an attractive blend of lightly vegetal curranty fruit. The oak is a touch dominant at the moment but smells light and fresh, and mouthwateringly savory. Very smooth and supple on the palate, there's a lot to like here. This is balanced and polished but not boring or dull on the palate with hints of raspberries in cream followed by red currant and slightly dried plum fruit. The oak is obvious but well-balanced with a touch of nuttiness and toast on the finish where the tannins reassert themselves, but not in an unpleasant way before jammy red currant fruit grabs hold of the moderately long finish and drives it home with a hint of vanilla. I do like this but it is a bit paint by numbers, making it a very safe choice. 88pts
Loamy earth and dill greet the nose followed by spiced cherry aromas wrapped in fruit cake. Has some burnt fudge, rum and dried date top notes. Enters the mouth with a rather austere quality that adds some firmness to this medium-scaled wine. The flavors are fresh and fairly complex, with notes of dill and cocoa accenting the fruit flavors. Fruit leans towards the dried fruit end of the spectrum with hints of dates and spice cake. The oak really pops on the finish here, with plenty of attractive, toasty spice notes and a little heat marring the finale. 88pts

nice nose of red fruit...on the palette it gives some nice cherry flavors with a great mouth feel.....nice long finish for a somewhat light wine

I found the wine very aromatic and smooth. It had a hint of spiciness to it with a dry aftertaste. I drink it again and recommend to others.

Hard tannins make this wine difficult to approach now, as they usually do for young Duckhorn Cabs. But it’s quite a success for the chilly 2010 vintage, showing lush blackberry and cherry fruits and fine acidity. As tough as the tannins are, they’re well structured, a strong suggestion that the wine, which includes Merlot, should have an easy time aging. Start drinking it in 2016.
Hard as nails in tannins, with mouth-numbing astringency. But the powerful fruit explodes right through, offering an array of blackberry jam, dark chocolate, raisin and anise flavors. Try cellaring it until at least 2019.
