Editorial Reviews for Decoy
Milk chocolate and oak greet the nose followed by an attractive blend of lightly vegetal curranty fruit. The oak is a touch dominant at the moment but smells light and fresh, and mouthwateringly savory. Very smooth and supple on the palate, there's a lot to like here. This is balanced and polished but not boring or dull on the palate with hints of raspberries in cream followed by red currant and slightly dried plum fruit. The oak is obvious but well-balanced with a touch of nuttiness and toast on the finish where the tannins reassert themselves, but not in an unpleasant way before jammy red currant fruit grabs hold of the moderately long finish and drives it home with a hint of vanilla. I do like this but it is a bit paint by numbers, making it a very safe choice. 88pts
At first oaky on the nose but air quickly brings out attractive blackcurrant and herb notes that help to lend the aromatics some balance here. Nice freshness and weight on entry carries through across the palate with some woody tannins and a touch of caramel and fudge topping the modest red berry fruit here. The finish is relatively bright and fresh, if short. Nothing out of place, but at the same time this is an awfully safe wine. 85pts

good body, dark fruits and good tannins, nice finish
Great body, smooth, dark flavors
I found the wine very aromatic and smooth. It had a hint of spiciness to it with a dry aftertaste. I drink it again and recommend to others.
Outstanding -- and love being able to get a duckhorn product at the grocery store. Smooth, well balanced. Worth the price.
Fruity, lots of plumb flavors. Had at Palm on 11-28-12.
The aroma hits you as soon as you open the bottle. Excellent red wine!

For years now Duckhorn Vineyards has produced a Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend under the Decoy label, and Duckhorn fans have enjoyed its distinctive forward style and its first rate quality at a great price. Well the people at Duckhorn knew a good thing when they saw it, and they expanded the Decoy line into varietal wines like this lush Cabernet Sauvignon. Accessing prime grapes from vineyards throughout the Napa Valley they've created this value Cab that's pure Napa and drinking beautifully right now. Of course they blended in 18% Merlot (it is Duckhorn after all) and aged it in French oak for 12 months. All for Under $25. Don't Miss It!
The 2010 vintage has delivered a beautifully fragrant wine with layered aromas of blackberry, cassis, cinnamon cake, anise, cardamom, tobacco leaf and mocha. On the palate, the entry is soft and smooth with blueberry and bittersweet chocolate flavors, as
It is rich and appealing with fragrant, lifted aromas of mulberry, raspberry and currant with hints of rhubarb and mocha. The soft-toned fruit flavors dominate the plush and inviting palate with engaging spice complexity.
Among the five Merlot cuvees, the least expensive is the 2010 Merlot Napa. Chunky, fleshy red and dark fruits jump from the glass of this dark ruby/plum-colored wine. It possesses good purity, attractive fruit and a spicy, long finish. This seductive Merlot should drink well for 8–10 years.
Aromas of ripe currant, spearmint, marzipan and tobacco lead to intense flavors of blackberry and black cherry, all supported by a subtle framework of French oak, which adds nuance, depth and dimension to the finish.
Offers aromas of currant and tomato leaf, with structured flavors of black cherry, cedar and walnut. A solid wine in a tough vintage. Drink now through 2018.
Well structured, with a charming core of currant, blackberry, cedar and spice. The tannins are firm and give the flavors traction on the finish. Drink now through 2021.
90% Merlot, 9% Cabernet Sauvignon, 1% Cabernet Franc. With firm tannins and exceptional length, this is a lovely and age-worthy wine that shows how much Merlot can excel in a cooler growing season. The aromas are rich and inviting with layers of amaretto, sweet spice and cedar. On the palate, lush flavors of plum, blackberry and cherry dominate, with the tannins adding structure and depth.
