Deaver Vineyards:
Ken Deaver stoops his broad shoulders to uncork a bottle of Zinfandel, wearing his trade-mark denims and cowboy hat, and you soon learn that Ken knows his wines. And his grapes. A drive over Deaver’s 300 acres will take you past 120-year-old Zinfindel vines and eight acres of Mission vines, so called because they were brought from Mexico by the Jesuits and Franciscans. The Deaver mission vines were planted around 1853 by Ken Deaver's great grandfather John A. Davis. His son, Ken's grandfather, planted the Zinfandel four decades later. For years, the Deaver's "old vine" grapes were sold exclusively to home winemakers. The first vintage of Deaver Vineyards Zinfandel was bottled under the “Lakeshore” label in 1985. Read less

Gorgeously fragrant nose full of black tea, orange blossom, light passionfruit and pink grapefruit tones. Really intense and fresh and gently frizzante with a honied tone to the warm citrus fruit tones and an easy appeal. Some tea notes add a bit of depth but this is a rather sweet and slightly rich style of Moscato with long honied flavors yet not much detail. 85pts

Sweeter than sweet. Lots of orangee, grapefruits, and dried apricots with a little teabag.

Sweet sassy moh-lassy, what a shitshow of flowers and citrus in my mouth. Keep your insulin pens handy, and don't drink the whole bottle. Some very interesting flavors that would complement thai food very well, this wine approaches with blunt force so give it something spicy to contend with.

Sweet orange, honeysuckle and lavender nose. Fizzy on the tongue - good acidity and a spritz of CO2. Very sweet, with honey and floral notes. Could work with spicy asian foods, or on its own if you are partial to very sweet (yet not desert) wines.
