Food Pairings for De Martino Single Vineyard Malbec Carmenere las Cruces Case of 6 Bottles
Reinventing Chile, and creating wines that are a true reflection of their origin is what De Martino wines are all about. The grapes that go into this wine come from the Alto de Piedras sector in the vineyards located in the Maipo Valley. Year after year this special and unique piece of land produces one of the best examples of this varietal in Chile. This exceptional vineyard is planted on soils of alluvial origin mixed with gravel, clay, and sand with excellent drainage and low fertility that naturally controls vineyard growth. The grapes are hand picked late in the season to ensure an aromatically ripe wine with abundant high-quality tannins. This Carmenere is deep red - nearly black - in color, and the nose is elegant, ripe, and complex. It is big-bodied on the palate with a long finish.
The nose is fresh and intense with notes of white pepper and plum, which are balanced by sweet aromas of vanilla. A pleasant acidity fills the palate, with well-structured tannins. The finish is long, with red fruit flavors and hints of vanilla.
