Smells like a moldy basement, but in a homely, familiar sense. It's like a basket of mixed red berries and a spice cabinet had their honeymoon in my grandma's basement. 89/100

Winemaker's Notes:

Harvested by hand in early April, the berries were placed in stainless steel tanks for a 4-7-day cold-soak at 8-10°C. Fermentation took place in stainless steel tanks as well at 26- 28°C for 9 days. The wine was left in contact with the skins for 28 days with periodic pump-overs and aeration. Full malolactic fermentation occurred. Aged in French oak barriques of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd use for 12 months. Filtered and refrigerated prior to bottling, the wine was cellared an additional year in bottle.

Tasting Notes:

Intense cherry aromas with notes of chocolate lead to a rich, velvety mouthfeel. Soft tannins and persistent mineral notes make this an excellent pairing wine. It is balanced and fresh with good mineral qualities. The oak aging adds complexity to the fruit without overpowering it as it is well-integrated.
