De Martino Estate Carmenere 2015

Member Review by Chris Carpita:

Typical rusty and earthy carmenere aroma. Hint of baked apples too. The body is dry, with heat in the back, strawberries on the finish.

San Martiño Winery & Vineyards opened its doors in the spring of 2004. We are a small family-owned winery specializing in handcrafted wines using modern techniques but with a traditional “soul” borne in the fertile lands of northwestern Spain. The village of San Martiño, (see picture below), located in the mountains of the Galician region, has been making traditional wines for hundreds of years. It was at the village of San Martiño that our love and knowledge of wine and wine making techniques started. Through years of watching and helping our family in the vineyard we came to appreciate the special relationship between people, their land and the food they grow. Our Texas winery was created by borrowing from the traditions of the San Martiño village and its people, the tenacity and resolution of our family and learned modern wine-making techniques. Our heritage is rich and although we are not Texas largest winery, we aim to be the best!. Here you can watch us grow and participate with us as we travel together in this adventure because we know that without you we are not. So come by and visit with us while relaxing with a glass or bottle of one of our wines. Bring a picnic and enjoy a break from the rat race. Read less

On the nose there s a lot of red fruit with a hint of vanilla and a touch of pepper. On the palate there is some fruit (not a fruit bomb) a nice hint of vanilla and a slight taste of chocolate. A medium finish. A very interesting grape.

Appearance: Deep translucent ruby. Nose: Green pepper (dominant), banana ( yes, an odd combo, but it works), cedar, dark cocoa. Taste: Front is a medley of cherries: Bing, Montmorency, Maraschino, and Black, with a hint of green pepper. The center is chocolate-covered green pepper. The finish is chocolate-covered cherries on the lips and English tea on the back of the palate. This would be a killer with chili.

Produced from hand-picked grapes, this signature Chilean wine has a beautiful red color with traces of ruby. The nose abounds with ripe red fruits and shows marvelous intensity. On the palate, it is full-bodied with smooth tannins.

Weingut: De Martino / Santa InesLand: ChileRegion: Maipo ValleyRebsorte: CarmenereAlkoholgehalt: 14,0 Vol.%Inhalt: 0,75 l Rotwein > Chile > Maipo Valley
