De Martino 347 Vineyards Carmenere 2008
The De Martino “347 Vineyards” wines are composed of carefully selected parcels of fruit from different valleys. The result is a multi-dimensional wine with a unique character. It is a concept that reflects Chile’s diversity and De Martino’s pioneering spirit. This wine is produced entirely from Carmenère grapes selected by award winning enologist Marcelo Retemal. The majority of the fruit comes from the Maipo Valley and gives the wine its depth and complex aromas of tobacco and spice. 22% of the fruit comes from a small parcel in the Cachapoal Valley. This gives the wine its ripe fruit flavors and smooth mouth fee. The balance of the blend consists of grapes that come from the Maule Valley and add the distinctive notes of pepper and spice. The wine was fermented in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks and 40% of the wine was aged for eight months in French and American oak barrels.
