Winemaker's Notes:

The first wine bottled and sold direct from De Loach was the 1975 Zinfandel from the Barbieri Ranch. The winery and vineyards were originally owned and run by the De Loach family, with Cecil De Loach as winemaker. In 2003, the family-run BurgundianJ-C Boisset bought De Loach and has since returned the estate to its original high quality winemaking philosophy. The focus is now firmly on small-lot winemaking, with particular emphasis on Pinot Noir from the Russian River Valley. Offering bright aromas of cherry compote, cinnamon-maple syrup and fresh raspberries, this Zinfandel is full of the vibrant components that old-vine wines are known for. Notes of brown sugar and rhubarb linger as the flavours of cranberry, black plums and cherry mingle with sweet oak and elegant tannins for a complex and lengthy finish. Aromas of black cherry and a hint of white pepper unfold to a luscious palate of ripe red fruit flavours, molasses and caramel. This complexly layered wine, perfectly balanced with its fine acid and tannins, has great aging potential.
