De Lisio Shiraz Mclaren Vale 2003
This prodigious Shiraz from De Lisio is dense and highly extracted, revealing notes of lead pencil shavings, blackberries, blueberries, cassis, licorice, new oak, and scorched earth. Concentrated yet velvety textured, with a seamless integration of tannin, acidity, wood and alcohol. 2004 vintage rated 96 points by Robert Parker.
Wonderful, powerful, toffee in a glass. Long length. I literally travelled the planet to buy this wine (tried to buy in London, acquired in California, shipped home via New York). Worth it. Always the last bottle of the evening - nothing afterwards will stand up to it.
