De Bortoli Yarra Valley Estate Grown Chardonnay 2014

Winemaker's Notes:

*James Halliday - 93 Points* De Bortoli Wines is a third generation family wine company established by Vittorio and Giuseppina De Bortoli in 1928. The couple emigrated to Australia from Northern Italy, from mountain villages at the foothills of the Italian Alps, near the historic town of Asolo. Their son, the energetic and dynamic Deen De Bortoli, (b 1936 - d 2003) expanded and consolidated the business created by his parents. Deen's children established De Bortoli's reputation for premium wine including icon dessert wine Noble One and the Yarra Valley wines. This is an excellent vintage for Yarra Valley Chardonnay, slightly warmer than 2013, which leads to terrific balance of flavour, texture and acidity within the wine. Fresh with juicy citrus flavours and a hint of florals, hazelnut, oatmeal and oak. Drink now to 2020+. “Flush of sweet pear-like flavour leads straight into a steely, citrusy finish. Whispers of Grapefruit and oatmeal linger about the edges. It’s both elegant and delicious.” James Halliday - 93 Points

Cooked peach, light lemon and green apple on the nose with a whiff of hazelnut. Smooth and almost silky in the mouth, with candied lemon peel and tart limeade up front and finishing with butterscotch.
