Db Pinot Grigio Family Selection de Bortoli Wines 2010

Editorial Review by Gregory Dal Piaz:

This smells green and fresh with notes of apples and honeydew melon topped with strong floral tones. On entry there is a rush of bitter peach pit fruit that's followed by a decidedly sweet, almost caramel tone that in turn gets tempered by the rising acid. The mid palate shows nice apple peel and apple skin tones before yielding to a bright backend full of grapefruit and pineapple that lingers on the sugar extended finish. This is surprisingly fruity after a slow start and is simply a fresh, fun Pinot Grigio. A great wine to serve lovers of White Zin. 11.5% ABV 86pts.

Suggested Recipe Pairing presented by
Layered Rice Pudding

RiceSelect's fragrant Jasmati® is blended with eggs, milk and fall's favorite spices, cinnamon and nutmeg, to create a delicious rice pudding, which is layered on top of fluffy cream cheese and abuttery pecan crust. Pairs well with a bold, tawny port with flavors of dried fruits, nuts, and spices.

Lots of butter and freshly cut grass in the nose, with some pears and banana. The mouth has an acidic punch to it, but is pretty soft mostly, and it quickly dissipates into minerality and latent mango fruit and oakiness. I didn't enjoy the finish that much, but the interesting nose and mid-palate made it worth a glass.

Fresh smell of green apples and the ocean. Soft taste with a very light touch of caramel, finishes strong with a bit of citrus undertone.

Sweet flowers and stone fruit on the nose. Definitely agree with the cut grass. A bit tropical tasting with bright acidity that tempers the sweetness. Perfect for summer sipping!

Sweet and buttery nose. Fruity (pears and a bit of melon) with a hint of citrus. The finish is a short, sharp citrus zing. Very enjoyable!
