David Bruce Pinot Noir Santa Cruz Mountains Estate 1999

Winemaker's Notes:

This wine comes from our Estate vineyards in the rugged mountains above Monterey Bay, and is the flagship of our Pinot Noirs. Our Estate wines are handled very gently at all times, seldom pumped, and never fined of filtered, to maximize fruit and supple texture in bottle. For the 1999 vintage we selected our best lots from the David Bruce Estate and Branciforte Creek vineyards, finding a synergy in this blend between lush ripe cherry flavors and more austere spice and earthiness. Fifteen months in Burgundian cooped French oak barrels with deep, long firing added subtle toast and smoke notes, as well as structure and length to the palate. While pleasant in its youth this wine should also reward proper aging for up to a decade.
