David Bruce Pinot Noir Russian River 2015

External Review:

David Bruce Winery has earned an international reputation throughout its nearly four decades for its dedication to producing some of the greatest Pinot Noir in the world. David was also one of the first winemakers to put white wines through a secondary, malolactic fermentation; a California pioneer in the use of whole-berry fermentation in making red wines; one of the first California winemakers to import French oak barrels; and an early advocate of foot crushing, extensive skin contact, small-barrel fermentation, and rotary tanks. This 2012 received twelve months aging in French oak barrels. Wine Enthusiast Magazine scored it 92 points saying "Spicy cardamom adds to the exotic perfume that opens this wine that is juicy in acidity and bright with crisp red cherry. Refreshing, it takes on more weight and substance as it glides effortlessly to the finish."

The Russian River Valley in Sonoma has a well deserved reputation for pinot noirs with ripe flavors and supple palates.Given to warm days and cool nights, pinot noir here achieves full flavor maturity without becoming overripe. The 2000 vintage gave us a long, even ripening season, creating a wine with luscious cherry fruit flavors and an enticing sense of richness in the mouth.Over twelve months aging in French oak barrels without being pumped, and the gentlest handling enroute to the bottle, has helped preserve subtle character and texture in the wine. While drinking beautifully now,it can support up to five years additional cellaring if desired. - Winery ** SOLD OUT **
