What to Expect

Petite Sirah is one of a group of grapes that took to a new home - in this case California - after moving from the relative obscurity enjoyed at its birthplace - France in this case - where it is called Duriff. While never particularly elegant nor subtle, Petite Sirah can produce large-scaled, intense wines with bright flavors of blue and plummy fruits, rich with earthy tannins.

Winemakers Notes

These grapes come from several vineyards in Paso Robles and southern Monterey. The resulting components display notable differences some exuding bright spice-tinged fruit while others are jammyearthy and dense. The blend in many ways exceeds the sum of these parts offering blackberry blueberry and white pepper aromas with a supple and balanced feel coming from our gentle handling of the fruit. Limiting the influence of new oak allows the fruit to shine through making this wine versatile with foods and ready to drink now.

Not only does David Bruce produce stellar Pinot Noirs; he also makes a handful of other great reds in the Central Coast area of California. This Petite Sirah has just about everything you could want in a fruit-forward red wine. It's full of deep, dark berry flavors, rich body, and soft tannins.

Dark color but with a light flavor. Very thick velvety tannins with a lot of dryness. Overall very well balanced.
