Dashe Zinfandel Dry Creek 2010
Color: Black-purple, with reddish hues. Aroma: Black cherry, blackberry, chocolate, black pepper, cassis, mineral. Taste: Black raspberry and black cherry, mixed with chocolate, licorice, clove spice. Extremely balanced with good acidity, wonderful viscous velvety texture on the mid-palate, complex, long sweet finish of black cherry fruit, and peppery spice.

A little nutty on the nose and somewhat compressed, with wooly fruit and earthy yeast notes. Wow—this shows some super-refined tannins, and while this is a little dense it remains elegant and balanced, with a hint of orange peel and baking spice accenting the high-toned, almost boyseneberry fruit that extends over the long finish. 91 points
50 yo vines in Geyserville Deep, earthy, and sharply mineral on the nose with crushed toasty black currant fruit, black raspberry fruit accented by notes of graham cracker and a little peppery spice. Deep and earthy in the mouth as well with real richness but a lean and firm character supported by super ripe tannins and fine, bright acidity. Upright in the mouth and structured like a skyscraper with lovely Zin berry fruit framed with brambly accents. Structured and powerful but superbly balance, with the structural framework just wrapped up in clear black cherry and black raspberry fruit. Unusual to find a wine with such height and breadth, yet one that is transparent in the mouth. 94pts
Lots of blackberry fruit here along with floral tones and a decidedly herbal, spicy green top note. There is very nicely used wood here adding a floor of vanilla and butterscotch to the bouquet. Smooth, creamy, almost medium-bodied but rather chewy at the same time, this is not a bruiser but is rather well packed with stuff. The fruit is a bit darker on the palate showing some boysenberry and liquory cherry notes along with some gentle gingerbread spice, all wrapped up in slightly firm and drying tannins and underlain by good, juicy acidity. The finish is moderately long and a bit tannic today with some spicy wood notes, but the fruit powers through it all, popping on the finale with juicy wild cherry notes. This needs time to settle down, give it 12-18 months. 90pts
Nice acidity and balanced well with the flavors and tannins. Gorgeous dark berry fruits, tart black berry and raspberry. Enjoyable even to drink on its own.
