Dashe Late Harvest Zinfandel 2009
Color: Dark purple. Aroma: Lovely aromas of black raspberry, cherry, and floral notes of lavender and violets. The aromas have hints of dried cranberry and plum, cocoa, vanilla, black pepper spice. Flavors: Lovely, soft black raspberry, black currant, blackberry, plum, and hints of chocolate and vanilla. The lovely, complex fruit is balanced with nice acidity, making the wine sweet but not at all cloying—an ideal and not overpowering dessert wine.
Editorial Reviews for Dashe Late Harvest Zinfandel
This just explodes on the nose with dried fruit, sour plum, leathery, tobacco, and fresh crushed black fruit aromas that gain some lift from the VA here. Sweet enough but balanced, allowing the gorgeous blackberry, black raspberry and black cherry jam flavors to fill the mouth. The balance of fruit and acid here is spot on, the fruit is so perfectly ripe yet it retains lovely intensity and thrust without much puniness. There’s a subtle chocolate nuance on the long finish as well. Another terrific wine from Dashe and while sweeties are often too much for my palate this is in a very nice spot. 92pts
Black cherry, leather, spicy oak. Pretty well balanced in the mouth.
Not your typical zinfandel. I had the half size (375 mL) bottle of Dashe Cellars Late Harvest Zinfandel, 2009, which seems to have added sugar making this a dessert wine.
I represent “Ricos Sabores Lda”, the finest winemakers from Portugal’s main wine making region. The wines are delicately balanced with rich in varietal flavor.
