Named 2007 Winemaker of the Year by the Sonoma County Harvest Fair, winemaker Michael Loykasek has been blazing new trails throughout California for the past two decades. Fresh out of U.C. Davis with a degree in enology in 1983, Mike spent 5 years developing his winemaking style in Paso Robles. From there he headed the winemaking program at Meeker Vineyard in Dry Creek Valley. After leaving Meeker, Mike headed up winemaking at Armida Winery. After many successful years making wine Mike decided it was time to let the Dark Horse out of the barn, so to speak. And ever since, he's been hittin' the trails with the Dark Horse. The concept is simple: take small lots of exceptional wine and put it in a package that folks can't help but notice...and have some fun with it along the way! www.darkhorsewine.com
