d’Arenberg has developed an enviable reputation with their range of idiosyncratic wines. From the Stump Jumps through to the highly regarded Icons, these wines offer value, individuality and a true taste of McLaren Vale. The Icons The Ironstone Pressings, The Coppermine Road, The Dead Arm Shiraz The Icons are the most powerful and concentrated of d’Arenberg’s wines. Comprising of the Dead Arm, the Coppermine Road and the Ironstone Pressings, this range represents the pinnacle of d’Arenberg’s efforts. Century old, low-yielding vines produce intensely flavored fruit which is traditionally vinified and undergoes rigorous barrel-selection prior to classification. Chester's Champions The Lucky Lizard, The Twentyeight Road, The Last Ditch, The Money Spider, The Feral Fox, The Sticks & Stones, The Derelict Vineyard, The Cadenzia, The Galvo Garage, The Laughing Magpie Since the early 1900’s, d’Arenberg has pioneered innovative wine styles and varietal plantings. Chester’s Champions represent d’Arenberg’s most exciting new ventures, offering an eclectic alternative to the known and loved bastions of the portfolio. The Classic Red Stripes The Dry Dam, The Broken Fishplate, The Olive Grove, The Hermit Crab, The Custodian, The High Trellis, d’Arrys Original, The Love Grass, The Footbolt. The Classic Red Stripes represent the backbone of the d’Arenberg range. Deep garnet-purple colored the 2009 The Eight Iron Shiraz has a youthfully mute nose with notes of kirsch tar and tree bark over hints of cumin Indian spices and warm blueberries. Well structured and more expressive in the mouth it s very full bodied with crisp acid and firm finely grained tannins finishing long and savory. Consider drinking it 2013 to 2023+. --Lisa Perotti-Brown Robert Parkers Wine Advocate.

Deep in colour and dark in personality with black fruits bitter chocolate inky fruit and toasty oak; the palate is chewy and dense epic in proportion and very tannic; it appears that this wine has been built for the long haul. James Halliday.

Glass-staining ruby. Pungent expressive bouquet of cherry compote singed plum and cassis complicated by licorice and violet qualities. Big chewy and broad on the palate which repeats the cherry and cassis notes and shows a smoky quality. Very rich shiraz with a powerful floral-dominated finish and very good persistence. Stephen Tanzers IWC.

The Eight Iron vineyard is located near the cellar door. Planted in 1960 on shallow grey loam. Raspberry liqueur, pepper, licorice, earth - seems very McLareny. Even, savoury and earthy palate married to sweet red fruit. Like the tannin and the balan... Wine Front. A Syrah wine from South Australia in Australia. 2009 dArenberg Eight Iron 750ml
