Upon release, d'Arenberg's Galvo Garage has a deep, vibrant red-purple color. The nose shows a complex array of blackcurrant, cassis, compost, mulberries, dark plums, cherries and cut flower stems. Finely textured, generous with plum and cherry fruit, picking up a black olive character on the velvety finish, lingering nicely. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc. Drink now through 2012.(WS)

Rating: 88/100 - As reviewed by International Wine Cellar in Issue 121, July/August 2005 ($35; a Bordeaux blend of cabernet sauvignon, merlot, petit verdot and cabernet franc) Dark red. Spicy red and blackcurrant, cherry, licorice and cigar box aromas, with a suggestion of mint. Solid but supple, too, with sweet cassis and espresso flavors along with a touch of eucalyptus and pepper. Finishes with a note of spicy oak.
