This Rivetti bottling is named after his daughter 'Mara'. It's a big step up from their other Barbera which we found to be a little 'thin'. This Barbera is fuller-bodied than most of its counterparts and displays all the classic traits of an 'old-world' Italian Barbera. The winery claims to use its best fruit for this bottling and we see no reason to disagree with that claim. The 2003 is terrific but watch for vintage variation. Overall a super effort by a quality boutique producer. -RW
