- I met with Christophe Rion who describes the 2001 vintage as more concentrated with better acid/fruit balance than 2000 and will keep much better as 2000 is best suited for restaurants and short term consumption. The present plan is to bottle at the end of January. The 1ers saw 50% new wood and the two grands crus saw 80%. As an aside, for those who enjoy following the ebb and flow of vineyards into and out of various domaines, the Chambolle Charmes and Nuits Clos des Argillières were lost to brother Patrice Rion (see below) as of the 2001 vintage.
