Food Pairings for Daniel Gehrs Chenin Blanc Santa Ynez Valley
This wine has a lovely aroma of greengage plums, springtime wild flowers and clover honey together with a refreshing mineral note. It is clean and fruity on the palate with ripe Bartlett pear and crenshaw melon flavors and a zesty finish. This vintage has a naturally high level of malic acid (the same acid found in green apples) which makes it somewhat leaner and tighter than its sister, 2010 vintage at the time of this writing. Therefore... this Chenin Blanc is capable of bottle aging – for 5-7 years or more! Great with mildly seasoned chicken dishes, spicy Asian foods and mildly flavored, flaky white fish. Oysters anyone?
