Dana Estate Cabernet Sauvignon Helms Vineyard Rutherford 2005

External Review by WineExpress.com:

Dana Estates is a new winery that plans to be around and on top for a long time. Started by Korean Importer Hi Sang Lee, Winemaker Philippe Melka creates tiny quantities of Napa Cabernet from their own estate vineyards. This was their first wine from the Helms Vineyard in Rutherford. Only about 1,300 bottles were produced. The wine was aged 21 months in new French oak barrels. Robert Parker scored this inaugural wine 94 points and said "The 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon Helms Vineyard (which I reviewed in issue #174 without the “Helms” designation) has actually gotten better (as have many 2005 Cabernets which are now revealing more complexity). This was a cool year, and the aromatics include sweet, roasted tobacco, chocolate, black cherry, and black currant scents. Dark ruby/purple-colored, rich, and deep, this 2005 appears set for 10-15+ years of life." Destined to be a cult classic. Less than 12 bottles available!
