The color is bright ruby red with garnet highlights; the nose is light, tender and delicate with hints of violet and red fruit. Dry on the palate with good body. It has texture and character. Velvety and harmonious.
The 2006 Nebbiolo d'Alba is made from Monforte and Barolo fruit. It sees malolactic fermentation in steel and subsequent aging in French oak. The tannins come across as a little rustic, which is normal for Nebbiolo at this price point. Still, this is a pretty, fruit-driven Nebbiolo to drink over the next few years, preferably at the dinner table, where the wine is likely to offer its greatest pleasure. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2011.

Yummy ripeness, but without the wimpy New World finish - firm tannins give the wine a satisfying, chewy finish.
