A touch of ash, some very nice fruit tones, very floral, herbal, spicy, slightly brambly red fruit. Sweet in the mouth on entry, a bit matte, nicely expressed fruit but a touch forced and compressed, low-key slightly weedy, slightly herbal, slightly green tomato-scented wild raspberry fruit. Hint of nettle and herb, a bit rich, and a touch clumsy perhaps but nice fruit. (86-87pts)

The 2001 Barolo Cannubi, a medium ruby, displays a perfumed nose of toasted oak, spices, flowers, mint and minerals. It is a medium-bodied, feminine Barolo that shows excellent persistence on the palate, with pretty flavors of ripe red fruit, finishing with good length and balance. It will benefit from a few years in the bottle to integrate its new oak tannins. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2016.
The 2000 Barolo Cannubi, with notes of cinnamon, raisins, and chocolate in addition to its ripe red fruit is sweet and long on the palate, velvety but with a rising density which indicates another dozen years of satisfying drinking ahead. Drink 2005-2017.
Deep red-ruby. Black cherry, truffle and nutty oak on the slightly medicinal nose. Lush, sweet, broad and rich, with impressive volume but also good grip and verve. Offers a fine-grained texture and lovely sweetness of fruit. Finishes fresh and persistent. Next to this, the Liste seems dry.
Deep red with ruby tones. Aromas of marzipan, brown spices, dried rose and truffle. Suave and sweet, with a liqueur-like ripeness to the flavors of red fruits, marzipan, brown, spices, menthol and leather. Nicely integrated acidity accentuates the wine's inner-mouth perfume and contributes to an impression of firm structure. Tannins are fairly tough but ripe.
A rich and complex wine composed of 100% Nebbiolo born in a great year that is known for its early maturing and accessibility qualities.
Damilano is one of Barolo's historic wineries and Cannubi its most historic vineyard cru. All that history combines here to shape a traditional, yet New World wine with plush roundness and intense notes of spice, leather, pipe tobacco, polished red wood and black currant. It's luscious, velvety and tight in the mouth and will improve with age. Drink with venison or game.
