Damilano Barolo Lecinquevigne 2013

External Review by We Speak Wine:

This Barolo is crafted from Nebbiolo and cultivated in five distinct townships. All part of the Barolo DOCG zone, the vineyards are located in Castellero, located northeast of the village of Barolo with western exposure; Monvigliero, located in Verduno with southern exposure; Fossati, located in La Morra with east-southeast exposure; Ravera, located in Novello with southwestern exposure; and Cavourrina, located in Grinzane Cavour with west-southwest exposure. The final wine is a unique expression of what the region has to offer. It is ready to drink now, but has the capacity to age for at least 10 years.

Another wonderful one. Pale Brown Ruby in the glass, almost like a Tawny Port. Bright Cherry/Strawberry that gathers depth and becomes a deep jam taste. Dry Slate, Cocoa Mint taste, a bit of Cinnamon Leather, and a strange, but wonderful cocoa/citrus. Seems to me that this one is just beginning to age. Quite Something

Superbly earthy, paint thinner and dark fruits. Tannins that don't overpower but still make themselves known. Tongue depressors and sage.

Needs to be decanted for about an hour, and maybe aged another year or two, but nice burnt sugar and leather. Pretty tannic.

Not Jeff's favorite. Dry, deep, earthy.

A blend of Nebbiolo from five different vineyards situated throughout the denomination, it opens with aromas of underbrush, porcini mushroom, black berries, tobacco and leather. The palate delvers ripe Morello cherry and red raspberry accented with baking spices alongside firm tannins. Drink after 2018.

Very firm and tightly wound, offering a peek at the cherry, wild berry, floral and tobacco flavors. Lean and dry, with mouthcoating tannins guarding the finish. Best from 2017 through 2028. 8,330 cases made.

As its name suggests, the 2010 Barolo Lecinquevigne sees fruit sourced from five vineyard sites spread over various townships. The wine shows a light garnet color and very tight aromas of wild berry and bitter almond that need more time to evolve. It ages for two years in botte grande. There’s a pleasant earthy quality that gives nice dryness to the finish. It feels compact and tight in the mouth thanks the the firm nature of the tannins. Drink: 2016–2025.

(a blend of five vineyards): Moderately saturated medium red. Inviting aromas of strawberry, espresso, mocha, earth and mellow oak. Supple, lush and seamless, with spicy red berry flavors complicated by sexy truffley underbrush. Mellow and attractive Barolo with impressive sweetness of fruit and a fine dusting of tannins that will not get in the way of early enjoyment. - Stephen Tanzer 91 Points A beautifully balanced and expressive Barolo, exhibiting cherry, leather, tobacco and orange pekoe notes allied to a sleek frame. This firm version lingers with tea and tobacco accents, showing a pleasant freshness. Best from 2016 through 2028. 8,333 cases made. –BS - Wine Spectator Magazine 90 Points Always a great value, the 2009 Barolo Lecinquevigne shows ripe fruit and spicy oak tones at the back. It’s an immediate wine suitable for near-term consumption. It boasts a medium build with enticing layers of dried berry fruit, spice, licorice and wet earth. The toasted oak notes are reasonably well controlled. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2020. - Robert Parker 90 Points ** Only 1 in Stock **
