Dalla Valle Cab 1990

Winemaker's Notes:

Wine Advocate Review The 1990 Maya (almost equal proportions of Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon) is a monster in the making. Its super-saturated, opaque black/ruby color is followed by a tight but promising nose of earth, cassis, smoke, and gobs of sweet fruit. In the mouth it is even richer, as well as more tannic than the regular Cabernet. The finish is long, sweet, and compelling. Wine Tasting Notes Favorite wine. Dark garnet. Nose very intense with lovely, sweet big black fruit aromas. Menthol, mint on palate, slightly sweet talcum, licorice, concentrated black fruits, slightly high on ripeness. Palate coating tobacco infused talcum powder. Youthful. Good weight. Lengthy tannins. Chalky finish. Brackish. Powerful and refined. One of best wines made under Maya. Most distinctive. Great character. Minerality. Stone Flower. Perfect balance. A Sense of over the top. Dense, rich, harmonious. Purity. Like food in the glass.

This tiny producer has burst on the scene with some extraordinary wines. This exceptionally strong effort clearly merits buying as a future given the limited production and surprisingly modest price.... Robert Parker. Dark, ripe, rich and concentrated, with a tight focus on the core of blackberry jam, plum and black cherry flavors. Holds its firm focus on a long, intense finish. Has the intensity to last another decade.--California Cabernet retrospective. Drink no... Wine Spectator.
