Cuvelier Los Andes Coleccion Malbec Blend 2008
...Ripe aromas of black cherry and dark chocolate. The palate is charming, unctuous, powerful and concentrated with elegant fine-grained tannins. It is perfectly balanced and ends on a pleasant and long finish.Edited from Wine Advocate[75% Malbec, 15% Merlot and Merlot and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon.] Cuvelier Los Andes is owned by Bertrand and Jean-Guy Cuvelier, part-owners of renowned Bordeaux Chateau Leoville-Poyferre in Saint Julien. The estate is located in the Uco Valley at the foothills of the Andes and encompasses 115 acres. The consulting winemaker is Michel Rolland.
With similar blends and provenance, it’s a shootout for Bordeaux style malbec-based wines between Cuvelier and Clos de los Siete. Cuvelier wins this round with a well-rounded, refined effort that offers cherry and plum flavors along with a touch of rose in the bouquet. (AV 87, http://argovino.com/?p=696)

($20; a blend based on 60% malbec) Medium ruby. High-pitched aromas of blackberry and fruitcake, with a medicinal note of licorice. Dense and suave on entry, then concentrated and firm in the middle, even a bit youthfully bound-up, with sound acidity framing the black fruit flavors...finishing with strong black fruit flavors, substantial tannins and excellent grip...Very serious juice for twenty bucks.
